What is a Dry Lease?

A Dry Lease is an aircraft leasing type whereby an aircraft owner (lessor), provides an aircraft on lease to aircraft operators like an Airline without insurance, crew, ground staff, maintenance, etc. Dry lease is usually used by leasing companies (aircraft owners), requiring the aircraft operators (lessee) to put the aircraft on their own AOC and register the aircraft in the aircraft operators (lessee) country of operation. usually a dry lease is more than two years and has certain conditions and responsibility on the aircraft operators (lessee) like maintenance, insurances, etc.
